OUR CAUSE
A recovering addict is often alone. As family and friends exhaust their hope and sever ties, Parker’s Pocket is here to assist an addict in recovery to get back on their feet.
WE HELP WITH THE BASICS
On a case-by-case basis, we assess the most pressing needs of each candidate and give help where it is needed most. Typically, this includes gift cards for fast food, groceries and clothing, as well as bus passes, cell phones, backpacks and bicycles. If funds are available, we may provide sober housing, job training or whatever assistance is most beneficial to a particular individual. We also try to give each person some kind of positive exposure to recreation or entertainment such as bowling passes or movie tickets.
HOW WE CHOOSE
We have personally vetted a handful of therapists, counselors and addiction specialists who provide us names of individuals who show exceptional potential in their recovery plan. These candidates must have taken some steps on their own towards recovery such as rehab programs, counseling or a steady stretch of sobriety. Our general region of focus is in Orange County, California.
OUR ULTIMATE GOAL
Our purpose is to help transition people in recovery back into society as self-supporting individuals. The aid we provide to accomplish this will vary with each person as will the time it takes to reach this goal. Your donations will give addicts in recovery practical essentials plus hope and encouragement during a difficult time.
